Montreal Part I: Through A Glass Dimly

The ride up to Montreal was "Uneventful", if not a little weather worn. To quote Crowded hose, we basically did four seasons in one day, hitting a number of beautiful squalls of sun and snow throughout. I was in the back seat for once, and got to savour the sights through my back window, which promptly became glazed with some sort of fine mist and whitish sediment. It gave me a nice soft Effect without even needing to press any buttons or put a filter on! Sweet!

Wherever this is, here you are.

An interesting side note of sorts is that you have to be quick on the draw. There is no hand holding or coddling while you take meters and measurements and test shots. Unless you want to anoy your carmates with stopping every ten meters, you have to shoot on the fly.

There was a variety of views and weather conditions, but the majority was snow once we made it 10 degrees norther than we were.

Snow is pretty, and nice, and I love it a whole lot, but this snow was more like a niece or nephew. You have a lot of fun, but at the end of the day, you sent them home to the parents for the night.

The sun was setting in the...west...♫ THAT WAY IS WEST!

A Matter Of Crows

This post brought to you by: GIMP

Wherever Crows go to sleep, they chose the trees down the lane the other night. Hearing strange crow noises at night is strange enough, so I went to investigate. As I stood on my balcony, I heard a loud Crowing noise, followed by a faint shift in the darkness before me. It was then that I heard the flapping of hundreds of crows disturbed from their perches fly over me.

The matter on the murder was that word was out. There was a need for flight, but still work to be done.

From the depths a hero was born, escaping the fate of his brethren... (Could be a female crow, so sub "Her" in there if you need to.)

Where we once slept, we leave, under the guise of a woken night.

We will watch out for each other.

Summer Nature Pt. I

Rainy days and Mondays...
I love camping. Besides all of the rest of the awesome reasons that make camping so great, there is the chance to see the woods through very different eyes, in all kinds of conditions.

Ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall...
Returning to the same place year after year is a pretty cool experience, because you get to see what nature has decided to change again and again. This year, there were an unprecedented amount of mushrooms and toadstools everywhere.

Nature's Bizarre Beauty

Like some strange...Ice Mushroom...
So here is the story. A couple of years ago some friends of mine (which, included in this posse, was me) went out into the country for a couple of days. In the recent days or weeks before our trip, this place (also known as Kedji) had seen a HUGE surge of rain, followed by surges of cold, and as the water fell, it left some interesting Ice formations Everywhere...

I thought I had over rotated this picture by mistake...
It was a nice wander, if not a little dicey in the footing department. The water had dropped back down, but was still impressively high. I would have liked to be there when it was crazy flooded.

Natures Chandelier
I'm used to crazy weather, having lived here in Nova Scotia for my entire life, but this was something else. Everywhere you looked were displays like this, or sheets of ice an inch thick suspended between four trees:

My friend Lila giving a sense of scale (and wonder) to the ice sheets.
To be honest, every time I have gone on a Photo hike in kedji, even in the same locations, there is always something new and different. That has a lot to do with me, as I tend to see things differently by nature...Ugh...No pun intended...but that also has to do with what nature throws up at us every time.
How?
The power and force with which we see nature destroy is what makes the news on a daily basis, but it is the daily basis of nature that truly defines her beauty. This was something different. It was the marriage of a yell and a whisper. A whisper that needed to be photographed quite quickly, for wandering amongst such wonders with a four year old leads to broken beauty...
Just natures regular beauty...

...But I have to admit that I did partake in some smashing of my own.

R.I.P. Dangling Ice Bell things.
